What is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon?
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons focus on treating problems related to the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, and jaws. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are the only dental specialists recognized by the American Dental Association who are surgically trained in a hospital-based residency program for a minimum of four years after the completion of dental school. They train alongside medical residents in internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), and emergency medicine. In fact, they are the only health care specialists (aside from anesthesiologists) who can administer all levels of sedation, up to general anesthesia.
We have been exceeding expectations for over 35 years. Our surgeons, Dr. Azzopardi, Dr. Moores, Dr. Chames, Dr. Kissoondial, Dr. Haskins and Dr. Coke who are board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from wisdom teeth removal, dental implant surgery and bone grafting reconstruction to corrective jaw surgery. We can also diagnose and treat oral pathology, facial pain, facial injuries or trauma. Our state-of-the-art equipment makes it possible to perform both simple and complex procedures in an office setting while maintaining maximum patient comfort and safety.
