Meet Dr. Azzopardi
Welcome to our office. I am a lifelong Michigander, born, educated and have lived my entire life in Southeast Michigan. I grew up four blocks from Tiger Stadium where I developed a lifelong love of sports and especially for the Detroit Lions and Tigers.
Due to great experiences with family dentists growing up, I considered a career in dentistry early on. I attended the University of Detroit where I received a B.S. in Biology followed by The University of Michigan School of Dentistry where I obtained my dental degree. While serving a one year General Practice Residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, I was exposed to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and discovered this is what I wanted to do for my life’s work. I then applied and was accepted for a clinical instructor position at the University of Michigan undergraduate Oral Surgery Clinic. This was probably the most influential year of my life; I was exposed to gifted oral surgeons practicing their craft, as well as meeting my future wife who was a dental student at the time. I was fortunate to attend a four year, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, which offered extensive training in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including surgical treatment of dentofacial deformities, pathological conditions, traumatic injuries, IV anesthesia and dental implants.
I joined Oakland Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center in 1990 and have been in private practice for over 26 years. I am fortunate to practice with partners who share a philosophy of offering patients the best available treatment in the safest environment.
I was board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1990 and currently hold a Diplomate status with this organization as well as being a Fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. My professional interests are staying up to date with evolving clinical technology in oral surgery and medicine in order to deliver the best possible patient care.
Currently, I am on staff at Huron Valley Hospital.
I have been blessed with a great family. I married my wife Terri in 1989 and have 2 children. My daughter Lauren is currently attending the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and my son Michael the University of Michigan. I enjoy playing softball and basketball and spending time with my family.
We look forward to meeting you.
